Late on Tuesday, Apple’s website went down for a brief period of time, prompting speculation that the company might launch new products.

Not this time, though — when the site went back up, it had a new “Store” tab on the top left side. Apple’s website had a “Store” tab some years ago, but it was removed in a redesign. Now, however, the Store tab leads to a thoroughly redesigned storefront, which lists all major Apple product categories but also has an overview of deals and new items, as well as a few support links and documents.

Clicking on a particular product category will open a page that lets you horizontally scroll through cards with major sub-categories, which is similar to the way it’s done on the Apple Store app on iOS. Try browsing it on a phone and you’ll see what I mean.

Finally, choosing a particular sub-category will lend you on that product’s webpage which appears to be identical or at least fairly similar to how it looked before the redesign.

1. Install Windscribe

To start, head to the App Store and search for “Windscribe VPN,” then install the app.

2. Create an Account & Verify Your Email

When you first open Windscribe, you’ll be prompted to either log in or create a new account with the service. If this is your first time using Windscribe, tap “Create Account,” then select the 10GB tab on the following screen. From there, enter any user name you’d like in addition to a password, then make sure to use a valid email address in the Email field.

Immediately after creating the account, switch over to your favorite email app. Windscribe will have sent you a confirmation email, so tap the “Confirm” button to finalize setup. 3. Let Windscribe Create a VPN

Next, open the Windscribe app again and iOS will ask if you’d like to let the app add a VPN configuration to your phone. Tap “Allow” on this prompt, then enter your passcode.

5. Connect to the VPN Service

At this point, you’re ready to start using the VPN. By default, “Best Location” will be selected, but you can choose another VPN server if you’re trying to bypass geo-restrictions in an app like Netflix. You’ll notice that some of the localities are greyed out in the free version, but there are still plenty of choices. You can even tap the down-arrow to the right of a country or location if you’d like to connect to a server in a specific city.

2. Change Your Password Regularly

If TikTok’s databases are ever breached, the strong password you just created may end up on that list, connected to your username. To keep your account protected, change your password regularly

3. Turn on Two-Factor Authentication

Although a strong password is a good start, two-step verification (2SV) adds another layer of security to your accounts by asking you to prove your identity when logging in from a new or unrecognized device. For TikTok, that means you will receive a verification code via text or email that you need to use to continue signing in.

4. Manage Devices Connected to Your Account

Security isn’t always about unknown devices — sometimes it’s about old devices or devices borrowed from friends or family members. Although the security alerts feature notifies you of strange activity, it won’t let you know about every single device you’ve ever used TikTok on.

5. Review Potential Security Alerts

Your login security should be fairly good now, but it’s also important to monitor any unusual activity as a preemptive measure. Fortunately, TikTok makes it easy to review any recent “security events” (as it calls them) and do something about suspicious ones.
